Honoring Those Who Answered the Call
May: Honoring Those Who Answered the Call
May is officially National Military Appreciation Month, a time for our community to pause and recognize the profound sacrifices made by those who wear and have worn the uniform. For our organization, this month isn't just about history; it’s about the living legacy of the veterans we serve every day.
Why May Matters
While we honor veterans year-round, May was formally designated by Congress in 1999 to ensure the public has a dedicated window to learn about military history and show gratitude. It serves as a powerful "bridge" between the living service members we celebrate on Armed Forces Day (May 16) and the fallen heroes we mourn on Memorial Day (May 25).
Our Mission in Action
This month, we are focusing on the "Total Veteran." Beyond the battlefield, veterans face unique challenges in transitioning to civilian life, from navigating healthcare to finding meaningful career paths.
Supporting the Transition: This month, we’ve successfully placed 20 veterans into new career roles.
Mental Health Awareness: May also coincides with Mental Health Awareness Month. We are expanding our Mental Health Programs to ensure no veteran feels they are fighting their internal battles alone.
How You Can Participate
You don’t have to be in uniform to serve the mission. Here is how you can make an impact this Military Appreciation Month:
Share a Story: Post a photo or a memory of a veteran in your life on social media and tag our organization.
Volunteer: Join us on for one of our upcoming community service projects. Contact Laura Piatt at laurapiatt@truecompassveteransfoundation.com for more information.
Give Back: A donation of any size this month goes directly toward providing immediate relief to local heroes in need.
As we move through May, let’s remember that "thank you for your service" is a great start but active support is what truly changes lives.
